Celerity Cares Fundraises for American Heart Association
Celerity had the pleasure of welcoming Allie Cohen, Senior Director of Development for the American Heart Association (AHA), to the Corporate Office in McLean, Virginia, for a Lunch-and-Learn. She discussed staggering statistics on heart-related ailments, shared an inspiring video on Gwyneth’s Law, and provided evidence supporting the idea that “there’s some piece of AHA that touches everyone.”
Celerity’s charitable program, Celerity Cares, announced in August that this fall’s initiative would be to raise funds for AHA. Celerity Cares reached this decision after many Celerity employees asked to support AHA because they’d been affected, directly or indirectly, by cardiovascular illness. All Celerity offices now have the opportunity to participate in their local Heart Walk and earlier this month, Celerity Mechanicsburg successfully raised over $2,000 for the cause.
Cohen’s presentation primarily promoted the Heart Walk nearest the McLean office, which will happen on Saturday, November 7 at the National Mall. The goal of the event is to invite participants to “move more, to eat healthier, to pay tribute to those lost and recognize survivors of Heart Disease and Stroke,” through the participation of many walkers and an expected donation sum of $2.5 million.
