Celerity Creates New Website for Veterans Leadership Program
PITTSBURGH, PA – The Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) of Western Pennsylvania recently launched a new website (see: Veterans Leadership Program) designed and developed by a team of Celerity employees pro-bono.
Formed in 1982 to help Vietnam Veterans find jobs and career training, today VLP aims to bring renewed strength and self-reliance to the men and women who serve our country by providing essential housing, employment and vital support services.
As strong supporters of VLP of Western Pennsylvania (VLPWPA), a team of Celerity designers, business analysts and developers worked with VLPWPA to create a new public website that better reflects the organization’s mission and dedication to Veterans, current Service Members and family members.
In addition to the redesign effort, VLP was looking to build a social media strategy that would help them effectively reach out to their many clients, donors and potential volunteers. Celerity and VLP collaborated to create a dynamic site and social media strategy that positions VLP for future growth and mission fulfillment as it seeks to become the "go-to" organization for Veterans' needs not currently provided by the Veterans Administration.
"I am very pleased with the collaboration between Celerity and VLP to make our website truly innovative and more user friendly. Celerity’s heartfelt efforts will directly help us provide improved service to our clients and their families,” said Al Mercer, Executive Director of Veterans Leadership Program.
Celerity has donated time, resources and expertise to VLPWPA in the past as well. In fact, Celerity’s Joe Grant, a retired Marine Corps officer and Veteran, serves on the Board of Directors for VLPWPA.
With over 300,000 Veterans residing in southwestern Pennsylvania – and the largest number of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in the state – the region has one of the highest per capita concentrations of Veterans in the United States. In 2011, VLP added more than $8 million into the local economy through finding employment for 441 Veterans, 50% of whom were homeless. VLP ensures that more than 93% of all contributions go directly to programs and assistance for Veterans.
