Celerity’s Second Annual Walking Challenge: A Huge Success for Live Fit, Live Well
Celerity’s second annual Walking Challenge is complete and the competition was intense.
After the first two weeks of activity, 168 participants collectively walked over 14.2 million steps and burned nearly 640,000 calories while wearing their fitness trackers, including complimentary Misfit trackers provided by the Human Capital Team. Now, following 30 days of heated competition, employees boasted a triumphant total of 31,522,886 steps, which equates to over 5 trips across North America – Wow!
The Walking Challenge is part of Celerity’s corporate wellness initiative by Live Fit, Live Well (LFLW). The Human Capital Team that coordinates LFLW recognizes physical activity as one of three components of healthy living, alongside nutritious diet and emotional growth. Since its inception in the spring of 2014, LFLW has offered many opportunities that Celerity employees can take advantage of for personal and professional benefit, including Stress Management seminars and Healthy Fix lunch clubs. The Walking Challenge is the most popular opportunity to date.
For those participating this year, the goal was to log the most steps or log the most total activity in order to earn a $300 gift card. Along with second and third place prizes, there have been bonus incentives throughout the challenge to keep people motivated. Last week, for example, LFLW asked walkers to post creative photos to Celerity’s Facebook and Instagram pages for a chance to win $100.
To all that participated, LFLW says, "You should be incredibly proud of the continuous effort and dedication to a longer and healthier lifestyle." The coordinators also extend a congratulations to the hard-working winners of the challenge and look forward to their next initiative.
